Alan Bergman has a long and varied resume. A native of the Bronx in New York City, he is a graduate of City College of the City University of New York, with a dual B.S. in Education and in Psychology. He was elected to membership in Kappa Delta Pi, which is the national honor society in education.
After college, he served as Chairman of the Joint Health Hospital Social Welfare Committee for New York City Community Boards 8, 9, and 10. He also served as the Director of Project R.A.I.N. (Regional Aid for Interim Needs), which is a health care program for senior citizens, funded under Title 8 of the Older Americans Act.
Alan then turned to the private sector, where for 16 years he was the owner and operator of Co-Op Security. Co-Op Security provided crime detection and prevention services to the private sector as well as to various government agencies, including Federal, State, and City agencies.
Alan is also well acquainted with the financial industry. He possessed Series 7, 24, and 63 Securities licenses, as well as an insurance license. He left the brokerage business when his office, which was located in 1 World Trade Center, was destroyed on September 11, 2001 (9/11).
Alan has lived in Indialantic, Florida, since 2002, with his wife Mary of 16 years and their two dogs. This is his first foray into elective politics. The basic philosophy of his campaign is that he wants to represent his District. When elected, Alan Bergman’s primary concern will be to benefit the various diverse constituencies of his district, including military families and individuals, both active and retired, and in short, ALL the people of the district. The Federal benefits that he foresees being able to bring to this district include: an expanded healthcare system including more hospital beds (both public and Veterans’); further strengthening the local economy by making the current tax cuts permanent before they expire in 2010; and cutting the fat out of the Federal budget.
