Alan Bergman for Congress
Let it be heard in Washington! It's as easy as ABC!
Welcome to the Official site for Alan Bergman '08!
Alan comes to the political arena with a unique perspective. After escaping the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11, looks forward to fulfilling the Representative’s oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and by extension, to support and defend this great Republic. While America must be sensitive to the needs of foreign nations and cultures, this sensitivity must remain secondary to our primary purpose of defending our own Nation and culture. This has never been more true than now, when we are engaged in the early stages of a worldwide war against terror aimed at destroying our great Nation.

Indialantic, FL – March 28, 2008    Alan Bergman, Republican candidate for the United States House of Representatives, Florida’s 15th District, is pleased and proud to announce that he has been negotiating with NASA and several private sector pharmaceutical companies to expand utilization of NASA’s Life Sciences Program. Also being discussed is the potential for further space launches to allow for the establishment of a chemistry laboratory in high orbit where compounds that cannot be synthesized under earth-bound conditions can be created.
There are hurdles to be cleared before this new marriage of space and pharmaceutical technologies can occur. The issue that most concerns Mr. Bergman is the existing laws. “I do not see a problem with financing the project. Money will be put in place by investment bankers and venture capitalists. It will lead to the building of a new industry, which can potentially save lives,” Mr. Bergman explains. “However, the regulations known as ITAR must be revised to allow these industries access to launch sites.” ITAR is the acronym for the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, found at Volume 22 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Changes in those regulations would have to be approved by both the State Department and the Department of Defense, among other agencies.
The scientific basis for high-orbit chemical engineering is somewhat complex and technical. The simplest explanation is that when the desired compounds are being created, it is done without the force of gravity pulling the atoms in the compounds into undesired shapes. Also, there is no atmosphere in high orbit, so the atoms that comprise air are not there to interfere with the chemical bonds being formed into the desired shape and size. Finally, the space temperature approximating absolute zero means that no outside heat energy can interfere with the formation of the compounds. It is for these reasons that the potential new class of drugs cannot be created here on earth.
Beyond pharmaceutical applications, there is potential for new building and construction materials, household and industrial chemicals, and even microprocessor chip design and construction that cannot be achieved under the limiting conditions of a habitable atmosphere. The potential for these compounds to become lifesavers and life extenders is unprecedented! Mr. Bergman has been pursuing this concept after meeting with NASA officials, touring Cape Canaveral, and interviewing the officials there regarding how he could best be of service to so vital a cog in the local economy. “I am not surprised that this possible use of our resources was not explored by any of the career politicians serving our area,” Mr. Bergman states. “This is the type of thinking that my years of higher education together with my time in the private sector, and specifically in the financial sector, have trained me for. It is the concept that can keep jobs at the Cape and create new jobs in our district.” Mr. Bergman also states: “This is an example of the type of work I intend to do for my district when elected to Congress and fight for the people of this district. A political outsider is just what we need in this election. We need someone who has not been tarnished by the Political Machine or its narrow way of thinking! It’s time for a change!”
